NEW FOR
Summer 2026
Camp Chai is thrilled to welcome a partnership with the Bernard Horwich JCC as we will relocate our girls 1-6th grade division to the West Rogers Park campus, a convenient location for families that enhances the camp experience with amenities such as on-site swimming and the beautiful Gan Avigail outdoor park. This relationship gives Camp Chai for Girls a more permanent home and a wonderful place to grow. Camp Chai's kindergarten campers will not be part of JCC's Apachi Village preschool camp, led by seasoned early childhood educators Miriam Aberman and Shuli Meadow. Camp Chai Kindergarten at the JCC, together with Apache Village Preschool Camp, and Camp Chai for Girls are thrilled to provide a single location for the programs. We look forward to a fantastic, fun-filled summer for younger campers and girls through grade six at the JCC, with one carpool location and some joint events and programming.
MEET OUR
Director
What's up guys, I'm Sammy! Since I was six years old, I had a longtime dream of running a camp. Fast forward to now, I am so excited to be the Director of Camp Chai! I spent two years learning at Yeshivat Torat Shraga in Israel, followed by three years at Yeshiva University studying Psychology. Now, I'm a graduate student at Wurzeiler School of Social Work.
I've had many years of experience in camps. I've worked as a counselor and Unit Head at the Bernard Horwich JCC, Yeshivas HaKayitz, and Moshav Ba'ir. I also ran many "backyard" camps before and after regular camp sessions.
With the help of my staff, I have developed a strong and meaningful connection with campers and their families, which brings a great community atmosphere to camp. My priority as director is to make sure kids have the best summer, while teaching the value of Torah, sportsmanship, and friendship.
